Participation and competition

For each of the activities proposed in the “Swiss Kit”, there is a chance to win a dinner with the Ambassador in your country of residence (amongst the participating Swiss representations) – all you need to do is leave a comment. There is a draw for each activity and all commentaries for the activity automatically enter the draw. The winners will be contacted between now and the end of August 2021 in order to organize the dinner

Participation in, the draw and/or the ‘What’s Switzerland to you?’ campaign is voluntary and requires the processing of personal data. The data collected will only be used for the stated purposes (display on and the draw) and will be kept until 30 August 2026 at the latest. For this purpose the FDFA uses Google Firebase, which is a service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (Google). The Swiss federal authorities strictly adhere to these rules. Your personal data will be handled in a strictly confidential manner and will not be sold or transferred to third parties.

We work closely with our hosting providers to protect against unauthorised access to our databases and to prevent the loss, misuse or falsification of data.

The following data is recorded when you access our website: IP address, date, time, browser request and general information regarding your operating system and browser.

The Swiss federal authorities may use this data to carry out anonymised statistical analyses in order to identify trends that can be used to optimise our service. The Federal Act on the Surveillance of Postal and Telecommunications Traffic (SPTA) stipulates that connection data must be retained for at least six months.

We use the web analytics tool Matomo (formerly Piwik) to optimise our online content. Your data will not be used for any other purpose or disclosed to third parties.

However, these rules do not apply if you contact us. If you register your email address, it will be stored in a separate database which is not linked to the anonymous data log. You can cancel your registration at any time.
