Embassy of Switzerland to Poland
Celebrating Switzerland in Poland
In Poland, August 1 has a special connotation. It is the commemoration of the Warsaw Uprising, when during World War II the Polish underground army stood up against Nazi occupation. Out of respect for the National Warsaw Uprising Remembrance Day, the Embassy of Switzerland in Poland celebrates Swiss National Day on a different day with a summer picnic in the park..
This year, on July 2, we are thrilled to welcome former members of the Swiss pontifical guards at our annual Swiss picnic in the Dolinka Szwajcarska (“Little Swiss Valley”), a park not far from the Embassy. Swiss citizens living in Poland, as well as our Polish guests, will have the unique opportunity to meet with the Swiss pontifical guards and learn more about them, taste delicious Swiss specialties and, of course, celebrate Swiss National Day in the company of friends!
Last year, we celebrated our National Day on September 5 with the first-ever Swiss Dog Parade in Poland, involving nearly a hundred Swiss dogs from Polish dog breeders parading through the center of Warsaw – what a sight! People in the streets could only marvel at our four-legged Swiss friends, including the Saint Bernard or Bernese Mountain Dog, and even got to listen to the sound of the Alphorn and enjoy a performance of flag throwing. Look back at the Swiss Dog Parade 2020 with the videos below:
Two years ago, we presented the “Swiss Innovation Trail” exhibition at Łazienki Park, which you can discover in the video below:
We hope that this year will be as memorable as the last two years.
We will soon post photos of our Swiss picnic with the Swiss pontifical guards. Until then, we invite you to check out our gallery below, where you will find memories of our past events! Follow us on social media to discover more about our activities, we are active on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
